The Saddest Part of a Broken Heart isn't the Ending so Much as the Start

I find it fascinating how my love of fashion and music seem to ebb and flow together. While I was in my fashion slump, I was also suffering from a music slump. Now, as I'm feeling all fashion pumped, my music interests are expanding. This little musing does have a point.
This morning, I listened to Feist's "Let it Die" and remembered how poetic and stunning the lyrics are. More importantly, however, is that I think anyone who is even remotely reflective of their own relationships finds this song highly evocative.
I include a you tube clip below.

Still experimenting with my hair. You want to know how I achieved this look? I showered last night and slept on it so it would have (literally) that mussed, bed-head look. Then, I used my wavy spray (the brand name is completely eluding me, right now) and scrunched the hell out of it before putting my front bangs in the sloppiest bouffant of all time.
I love it! What fun and almost zero effort. Could it get any better?

I fully intend to wear these shoes out this summer.

Also, these earrings were a purchase from Chic Downtown when they gave me a fifty dollar gift card for working with them. I really like them, and I don't usually go for earrings.

You've Never Been in Love?

This photo session is my own literary allusion to Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451. This is like a literary "Where's Waldo?" Can you find the specific allusion?

Completely unrelated, my school reported its first case of swine flu today. Awesome, right? I think it is safe to say that this (and other) events have culminated in one of the most unique student teaching experiences in history.

Sick of my hair so I tried this. Not quite the effect I was going for, but I'm still ok with it.

As today appears to be "Random Thought Day," I decided to throw in one last thing. I was just talking about my favorite band, The Pierces, the other day and then they sent out an e-mail notifying all fans that their new video for "Turn on Billie" was out. I encourage you, by all means necessary, to enjoy.
Aren't these sisters sexy? Catherine (the brunette) is my favorite.

Divinity

The weather is finally indicating spring at a surprising 86 degrees.
Furthermore, this outfit is just begging for a beach, which was not it's original purpose (just a fortuitous accident).
It was the marrying of these two lovely events that inspired a frollick outside. I felt so young while taking these pictures... except for the fact that I kept having to stop to reset the timer on my camera. Don't worry, nothing could thwart my enthusiasm today.
I'm off for a fine evening walk and some yummy (day late Cinco De Mayo) casadillas.

Gams

These shoes are right up there on my most comfy list. Furthermore, the nude color makes my legs go on forever (well, not quite, but a girl can hope, right?).

Going Country

Ok, so I'm from Colorado, which generally speaking, sets me apart in this area. I'm always overdressed and unscrupulous about my love of fashion. But then there's the deep down hidden Colorado of me. I think it's compounded by my paternal grandfather's obsession with western films. I've watched them my whole life. In fact, when he wakes up at 5 am, I hear the Starz Western Channel while I'm laying on the air matress before he leaves for work. Therefore, the country part of me was bound to come out. I have many outfits that have manifested from my thwarted attempts at suffocating the cowtown in me; however, lately reruns of Maverick and seeing Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (probably the most monumental film of all time) have made me a slave to the country lifestyle. Here is my latest inspiration. Lord only knows what will come out of these photos.
And just for the record, part of my western infatuation is definitely due to the good looks of James Garner, Robert Redford, and Paul Newman. Sorry. I can't help myself.

Triumph

I feel unstoppable today. My district interview went amazingly well. In fact, I do not believe that I have had a better interview in my entire life. To celebrate, I kept my business outfit on and went for some plum wine and sushi at my favorite sushi restaurant in town. Though I was not looking forward to wearing such a conventional outfit, I believe now that it contributed to my interviewing prowess this morning. I'm still wearing the pearls eventhough I stripped down and pulled on some yoga pants. I just can't get enough of the residual power.

Then again, I listened to The Pierces "Lights On" all the way out to the interview, which probably contributed to the goddess aura I was exuding.

Spring

I am exhausted, but surprisingly once I busted out the camera, I couldn't stop myself from taking pictures. I may be developing a nostalgia for the old blog days when picture taking was a creative adventure and not the burden it became during student teaching.
I have a district interview tomorrow morning and I may take a picture of that outfit. I will be looking much more conservative than I am used to, but that's the teacher life.
Also, random story for you all: On Wednesday, my crappy excuse for a second closet (a necessity that transpired when I was in college due to an overwhelming acquisition of clothing) decided to break and my clothes and bags landed on top of my suitcase that I still haven't fully unpacked from my trip to San Fransisco. It is a gigantic mess and yet, as of Sunday evening (the exact moment that I'm writing this), I have opted to ignore the problem. The mess is so overwhelming, I don't even know where to begin, so I just step over my clothes and shoes to get to my real closet. I've got to take care of it soon or I'm pretty sure I'll lose my mind.
