Snow and San Fran

School was canceled today because of a blizzard. My students have been slowly wearing me down so I'm grateful for the early spring break, but I'm worried that I won't be able to travel to San Fransisco on Saturday. Despite my worry, I began packing this morning as soon as I woke up from (a much needed) long, restorative sleep. My bed is chaos right now because I haven't put any of my clothes in the suit case and I decided to share the mess with my readers. I'm usually such a good packer, but since it isn't absolutely necessary that I consolidate this time, I brought somewhere around 6 pairs of shoes. I'm so pathetic.

Contest!

I was thrilled when Alyssa at Chic Downtown contacted me about giving away an item for one of my loyal readers. One of you lucky readers will receive this amazing ring (that I personally want for myself) and here's how you get it:

I need a new image for my blog banner. The only stipulation that I have is that it include the blog name (that being Big Girl Clothes Horse). Otherwise, you may use your own graphics, choose a photo from my blog, or whatever other resources you have at your disposal. I am hoping that the creative genius in you all will come out full force. Please e-mail your entries to me and I will choose a winner on the 12th of April. Good luck and have fun!

Compliments of chickdowntown.com, a great site for women's designer clothing from designers like Diane von Furstenberg, Nanette Lepore and Genetic Denim.

Betseyville

So, yesterday I attempted to go shopping for skirts and dresses (two items that I am in constant need of), but when I showed up there, I was completely uninterested. Instead, I took a long overdue trip to Nordstrom Rack to look at their shoes. They were having a pretty crazy sale and I got two pair for $58. I was pumped, though, clearly, I don't need any more shoes in my life. The shoes in this outfit were one of those purchases from yesterday. I don't think the photos show how cool the purple color is.
Today is a fold laundry, drink wine, and watch Twilight day. Oh, and I have to read a portion of a novel that one of my students wrote. Not too exciting, but I'm looking forward to it anyway.

Revitalization

I finally feel up, and even eager, for blogging again. The break made me miss dressing up desperately and the weather is showing signs of nearing Spring. This outfit is from yesterday, but I never quite got to posting it, as I rushed into my bed for a restful sleep after a long day. These shoes are brilliantly comfy! I'm not entirely sure whether that is due to their own attributes or because I'm finally getting used to the towering heights of all my new shoe acquisitions.
Also, I cut my hair yesterday. I stepped out of the shower and was just plain sick of it, so I took some scissors out and went at it without any true vision of what I wanted. My experience with cutting my own hair has been that I require a two day grace period. The first day, I usually get the general idea, but I don't want to go completely scissor crazy and cut my hair too short, so I revisit the hair situation the next day. Today's outfit post is a much prettier hair post since I chopped at my hair a little more this morning.
Anyway, it's good to be back and I have a little surprise coming up.

Something to Celebrate

Today I officially got my first class as a Zumba instructor. Though this is not fashion related at all, I am so excited and I had to shout it out to the rooftops.

I Just Don't Have It

The spotty posting on the blog may or may not have gone unnoticed. The fact is, I'm planning on taking a two week break from blogging to recoup and energize again. Last week was extremely difficult and I'm still recovering. In addition, the fickle winter/summer juxtaposition and my constant push-pull with being fashion forward while still being middle school appropriate is starting to wear on me. Although this disenchantment with the staleness of March's winter is typical, I feel like this year is painfully acute. Then again, I probably say that every year. Anyway, I might be around with some inspiration posts or shopping finds, but the outfit posts will be miniscule at best.
I long for the days when I feel inspired again, but until then, I will gaze at photos of the timeless Jane Mansfield.

P.S. I'm also not shopping right now to save money for my trip to San Fransisco, which happens in 18 days! Shopping opportunities abound. How divine!

Favorite

Today was a day for rolling out the new classics in my wardrobe. It was a weird day with Zumba, an afternoon seminar, and a rendezvous with some friends of mine with plenty of wine and exceptional food (which comes standard at their house).

I am still reeling from the aftermath of yesterday. The rollercoaster is nearly over, though, and I have received some surprising affirmations in the last 24 hours.

Bandage for My Wounds

So, I'm definitely not into gushing my feelings to a bunch of cyber strangers, but seeing as I had a pretty cute outfit today and didn't take pictures, I felt I ought to share. Today ended up being a dreadful day and my nose and eyes were so puffed and bleary from tears that I just couldn't imagine taking outfit photos. Not to mention that the time spent setting up my camera and so on was so not appealing by the end of the day.
Although the day went to the crapper in the most infamous of ways, I found a smile in an MSN post where todays starlets model history's style icons. Aren't these just delectable? Can you guess who is modeling and what person they represent?

Friday

This outfit is actually from Friday, but I wanted to post it anyway. I've disappeared yet again for a few days because I spent all of Saturday at a Zumba instructor training. It was stellar and I came home completely exhausted from eight hours of dancing. Then, I spent all of yesterday coreographing songs and wearing myself out with the fun, energetic songs. Needless to say, I never really made it out of my workout clothes yesterday. My calves ache today, but I plan to do more Zumba choreography today, so probably no outfit. Anyway, I hope everyone is well!
