Bus Stop
I found this vintage Chloe dress at a garage sale at the beginning of the summer, but when I tried it on, the length was disappointing. Did Chloe make clothes for people under 5 feet?
The designer find just sat in my closet for some time, while I ruminated about the best way to remedy my conundrum. Turns out, the solution was so simple, it was embarassing.
By the way, I wore this out to the liquor store and to fill up my gas tank. My entire family comments on my complete and total impracticality when dressing and, yes, I am impractical.

The Shoes Called to Me
An impromptu stop at Nordstrom Rack turned into an illicit love affair. These shoes are so wrong in every way, and the minute I put them on my feet, I had to have them. I was even embarassed to put them on the counter when paying for them.
Jessica Simpson truly has a knack for the exceptionally slutty. I've already got an outfit for them.
P.S. It is hilarious to watch young men my age shop. They look like they're thinking so hard.

Geneology
My sister and I found some long lost relatives on facebook because our last name is so quintessentially unique, even in our family's native country. We're all pretty into it, and I'm excited because I get to practice my rapidly dwindling Danish skills.

Is it the Dog Days of Summer?
Please pardon the absence. I had all these fun outfits lined up for the weekend, and then this happened (see below).
I got a puppy. I've been contemplating one for quite sometime, but this was still a bit of a surprise to walk into a store and find the perfect fellow. Needless to say, I've been spending my entire weekend doing very un-Carly things like potty training and working on chewing habits.
Oh! His name is Loki and he is named after the Nordic trickster god. My sister's dog is named Soren, after the Nordic god of war and I always liked Loki (I helped her with her dog's name). Then, Loki was just perfect for my new puppy, which is sweet.

Swan Dive--SPLAT!
Stressful week at work. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever experienced this level of stress in my ridiculously short life. Hope to never experience it again.
First year teaching (particularly in an urban middle school) is not for wimps.
I've cried nearly everyday... to my Response to Intervention coordinator, to one of my literacy colleagues, to my Assistant Principal today... and the list goes on. I'm not a public crier, so you can imagine the humiliation I am currently experiencing.
I am greatful for friday, but I love the crap out of my kids. I would probably take them all home, if I could. One student asked me if I could be her mom today. I have another student who just moved here from Burma. He doesn't speak more than 30 words of English, but his smile melts my heart every single day. I love him. I love them all.

Flickr Inspiration
Just a few photos from some of my flickr groups. I hung out in my yoga pants all day today because I'm just wiped from last week. One of the best and most annoying parts living in a cow town is that no one looks twice at you for going out in the most casual clothes. On the other hand, they stare at you every other time. Or maybe that's just me.

The Birds
I braved exhorbitant amounts of bird poop for a couple of these pictures today, but the location was so rad that I couldn't pass it up (bird poop or not).
A few thoughts: I just recently discovered Pandora and it's my brand new, fancy Crack cocaine. I just can't figure out why all my stations play the same artists. Time to branch out, perhaps?
Lunch is one of my favorite words to say and here. I just recently became aware of that.
I work with the coolest hippie ever. He's worked on the railroad, protested in the
60's at University of Maryland, was an extra in the film Gettysburg (he died 5 times) and he owned a guitar store. Furthermore, he adores me and my shoes, which makes him pretty cool in my book.
I bought and devoured a mini tub of chipotle hummus from Whole Foods. Coincidentally (or not), it's from Lafayette, Colorado and it is delicious.

Flower Girl
New dress and new shoes. Good thing I had this explosive combo of pretty florals and weapon-like shoes to combat a tough day.
The good news? I love my job even when it's difficult, and I never feel like it's a job.
