Birthday Event

I've been having a very challenging time at work and thus have not updated the blog in a long time. Sorry. Anyway, today is the weekend before my birthday, so we are going wine tasting in the Boulder Valley area. This shrug was a random find on etsy and I am in love! She normally makes these shrugs for weddings, but I'm the kind of person who figures that if it's good enough for a wedding, it's good enough for me to wear everyday.

Fade to Black

This is what I am wearing for a dinner of ribs. I wanted to try out the feather cap with something more casual. With a dress, I think it'll just be way too dressy for everyday. I mean, it's already an attention grabber, so a dress would make it more dressy than my everyday life can bear. That's why I waited till I got to my parents house to reclaim my black jumpsuit.

A Little Sparkle and Shine

I really love every piece in this outfit. Shockingly, these shoes are far more comfortable than I expected them to be when I pulled them out of the box and placed them on my feet. It's great to be pleasantly surprised like that every now and again.

TomTom

After teaching a really fun Zumba class this morning, I was feeling pretty worn out so I indulged in one of my new favorite TV shows, Covert Affairs and then watched The Hangover with my sister (I couldn't help myself, it's just so wrong it's funny).

Moschino Cherries

So, I have been facing a crisis. I can not find clothes that are cool and flowy and all together effortless in larger sizes. While I love me some Faith 21 (my most recent clothing savior), I hate how tight, constricting, and short all of the items are. That's ok sometimes, but most of the summer I want to wear some gauzy, paperthin nothing that still covers my bum, damn it. I've perused Karmaloop, Urban Outfitters, even RVCA in search of said dress, but they always turn up nothing in my size. This is one of my few reprieves from this sticky situation. I was bumming around Express's website when I found this for nine dollars in the sale category. I bought it thinking that it would probably be tight as well, but it's even better than I thought. It's like a tent in there. I am overcome with boundless joy!
And if any of you would like to suggest some places that you have found dresses like this, I would be eternally grateful.

We're going to party, karamu, fiesta forever

This is the outfit that I was planning to wear to dinner and a movie with some friends. However, I think I'm going to change into something a bit more comfortable.
I spent the week in Keystone, Colorado at an International Baccaleureate (I probably spelled that wrong) conference. I'm still recovering and feeling super antisocial since I stayed in a house with 16 of my colleagues. I'm too much of a homebody for that much socialization.
That's probably the reason I want to feel as comfortable as possible.
Don't forget about the contest. It ends on Monday July, 5.

Oh, I also just finished The Girl with the Dragon tattoo and I'm pretty impressed. My next book is called The Magicians and I'm dying to get started.

I'll be there when toil and trouble pop or burst or blow your bubble

I was so excited for the location of these photos that I had planned. The weather had other plans for me. Rain and lightning forced me to hide under my favorite tree near my neighbors' yard. Oh well.

Care for Some Tea?

A friend of mine invited me over for a tea party and the viewing of the new Alice in Wonderland. She asked if we could dress up, so naturally I complied. I was supposed to dress up in vibrant colors, but instead I let the likes of the Mad Hatter and Alice herself influence my attire (with my own little twist, of course).

I have been disgustingly absent from the blog lately. There is no excuse but I'll offer a brief explanation. I was grappling with the end of the school year-- essentially, I was in survival mode. Then, once school was finished, I became quite taken with the idea of not having to do anything at any given time. I've been taking three hour bike rides, eating healthy, going to farmer's markets, taking care of my hair, and sleeping in every day. This is my attempt to get back at blogging because I do miss the outfit posts. I don't really like the photos, but I'm a little rusty.

Fax Shadow

There is no excuse for my absence other than exhaustion that led to inexcusable laziness. I've been sleeping in and not giving a damn about what a wear, just trying to get through the year. The bad/good news? I'm done with school in less than two weeks and I don't have a full week for the rest of the year.
I took a sick day today to sleep in, ride my bike, take an online course that I've need to take, and cleaned my house. Needless to say, I got a late start on the outfit; but I've purchased so many new and interesting pieces (including this headdress) that I need to get on here more and show you guys. So, I did today.
Check out my latest musical fascination below. Thanks to National Public Radio for always keepin' it real and keeping me up-to-date on music.

Good as Gold

Today was a day for a play date in the Museum of Outdoor Arts sculpture park. It was a little rainy this morning, but the sun prevailed.
Still...
I brought my favorite/only umbrella just in case.
